About Me

Ken Cook (ken.cook@myfoxatlanta.com) is one of the South’s best known and trusted weather forecasters, as well as one of FOX 5 Atlanta’s most recognizable faces. When weather takes center stage, viewers know they can “Depend on Ken” to deliver an accurate forecast, free of unnecessary hype.

Ken’s long meteorology career began in Austin, Texas with the National Weather Service. It also took him to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and eventually to Atlanta where he has served as a forecaster for public weather, aviation, forestry and agriculture. Ken was also responsible for promoting tornado safety in Georgia schools as the state’s Disaster Preparedness Meteorologist. In 1979, Ken made the leap to television, and has been broadcasting the weather for well over two decades on FOX 5 Atlanta.

Ken has earned the American Meteorological Society’s seal of approval, been recognized by the Associated Press as Best Weathercaster and received Outstanding Performance Awards from the National Weather Service.

His service to the community goes beyond the forecast. Since 1980, Ken has served as co-host of the Jerry Lewis Telethon, benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Ken earned his BS in Meteorology and Math at the University of Texas at Austin. He continued his studies right here in Atlanta at Georgia Tech.

Ken and his wife Susie live in north Fulton County, where they are active in numerous community activities. An avid gardener, Ken will gladly brag about his tomato-growing skill. He and his family also enjoy softball, tennis, bowling and farming.
